ART and EMOTIONS - COURSES I and II 

Art and Emotions - An Introduction to Dynamic Emotional Integration®  

A first series of 4 online workshops introducing and exploring new ways of understanding, relating to and working skilfully with your feelings and emotions.

Art and Emotions II - An Introduction to Dynamic Emotional Integration® 

A Second Series of 4 online workshops exploring the four families of emotions in more depth.

Course Information and curriculum:

Art and Emotions I - An Introduction to Dynamic Emotional Integration® 

Learning and interaction structure for courses I and II:

Weekly two-hour sessions will be held using the Zoom webinar platform. Workshops will include discussion, screen shares and simple art practices. PDF’s of all screen shares, relevant audio files and other useful handouts are emailed to you after each session.

This Course is suitable for anyone who is interested in exploring new ways of understanding, relating to, and working skilfully with their feelings and emotions.

What you will need for the workshops:

Paper (around 20 sheets of A4 printer paper is suitable), and any kind of coloured pencils, pens and crayons or paints.

(If you have no art materials and would like to buy some ”Caran D'Ache NeoColor II" Water Soluble Wax Pastels are good quality, easy to use and last for a long time. A brush can be used to wash over the pastels and create paint effects.)

An A4 folder or file is useful to organise each weeks work in.

Course Content for Art and Emotions I - An Introduction to Dynamic Emotional Integration®

Week 1

Meeting your Emotions and Learning about their Gifts and Skills:
In this first workshop the emotions are organised into 4 basic categories: the anger family, the fear family, the sadness family and the happiness family. You will learn about the specific kinds of intelligence each family of emotions contains.

Week 2

The Four Keys to Emotional Genius:
In the second workshop you will explore the 4 keys to Emotional Genius: 1. Welcome all your emotions equally. 2. Understand emotional intensities. 3. Identify multiple emotions. 4. Learn how to channel your emotions.

Week 3 

How your Emotions Work:
In the third workshop you will learn about how your emotions work by learning the Situation to Action Pathway process. DEI helps you understand how to work with your emotions in new ways so that you will be able to choose new and constructive ways to respond when your emotions arise.

Week 4

Empathic Mindfulness Practices:
The last in the series of 4 Workshops focuses on DEI empathic mindfulness practices which can help you develop healthy empathy and self care skills. These practices will also help you access the many gifts and skills of your emotions.

Simple and easy art practices will be employed to help facilitate the flow of your ideas. No previous experience in art is required.

 

Art and Emotions II - An Introduction to Dynamic Emotional Integration®  

This is a follow-on course to the first series of introductory workshops and is therefore suitable for anyone who has completed the first series of workshops. 

 

Course Content for Art and Emotions II - An Introduction to Dynamic Emotional Integration® 

Week 1  

In week one you will focus on the emotions in the Anger Family: Anger, Apathy (or Boredom), Shame & Guilt and Hatred.

The empathic mindfulness practice of Burning Contracts will be introduced. 

Week 2    

In the second workshop you will focus on the emotions in the Fear Family: Fear, Anxiety, Confusion, Jealousy, Envy and Panic & Terror. 

The empathic mindfulness practices of Resourcing and Conscious Questioning for Anxiety will be introduced. 

Week 3    

In the third workshop you will focus on the emotions in the Sadness Family: Sadness, Grief, Situational Depression and The Suicidal Urge.

The empathic mindfulness practice of Ethical Empathic Gossip will be introduced. 

Week 4    

In the fourth workshop you will focus on the emotions in the Happiness Family: Happiness, Contentment and Joy. 

The empathic mindfulness practice of Rejuvenation will be introduced.
